Ascend to Greatness

I’ve been involved in stair-climbing races for four years now. I started at the “Hustle up the Hancock” race in Chicago on an Ann Arbor team, and since branched out to race with my own team in the Sears Tower.

I’ve heard that stair climbing used to live in Detroit as well, the “vertical mile”.

Well, now it’s back!

You can participate in a 70-floor stair climb in the Renaissance center. It’s 70 floors and though shorter than the other races, still will be a worthwhile climb. Besides, its for the donation and the team comradery more than anything else.

Check it out! I probably won’t participate as it’s the same Sunday as the Chicago climb and I’m already enlisted. Otherwise, I’d be there for sure!

wouldn’t it just be easier to take the elevator up?

Very interesting, Ian. I have never heard of such a thing.

It is a good thing that we have so many great hospitals nearby. I’m sure I would have to be wheeled off if I attempted even 10 flights.
