Back in the D’
Was out of town for Thanksgiving visiting family in NJ and even though my family lives on the Atlantic, it’s still a breath of fresh air when I return to the City. Arriving home tonight, I looked out over Woodward, and it looked so inviting. Christmas tree lights on the Blue Cross Building and, this year, the Penopscot Building is lit up in red and green with the tower lit to appear like another Christmas tree. Grand Circus Park is all lit up as well.
This is my favorite time of year. Not only is it Fall but it is the Holiday Season. Time to wrap those scarves around your neck and button up those coats. Never mind the sales and the 5am openings. Choose a weekend and go out with the one you love, arm in arm. Stop and have a couple of martinis, and a bite to eat and THEN hit the stores. Geez, that is so much fun!
I do all my Christmas shopping online and it’s always food. Look for my post next month on the very best meals to order. Ribs from Memphis, seafood from Key West and steaks and lobster from Omaha make welcome gifts to friends and family alike.
Tis’ the Season. . .
I just got back from South Carolina and am glad to be home. The weather here is gorgeous and even warmer during the day than the nights in the South. I too love shopping online, but doing so doesn’t have to mean snubbing the D. There are plenty of online retailers hailing from the city. You have the power to pick and choose your retailers even online.
