Well a grand hello to you, too, Detroit

Not a newbie, only a, umm, visiting-bie. Thanks for hosting my little posts over the next week on Metroblogging Detroit; you can see my regular and mediocre work at Metroblogging DC, the place I call home. Visiting Detroit is fun for me, I’m a Detroiter at heart having lived in the suburbs for 21 years until I made my way down to DC over five years ago.

It is more than interesting to visit the places you spent your life but only a few times a year. New places, faces, decisions and changes are much easier to notice when you don’t hear about them or drive by them every week. I’ll be posting about a few of those things too.

Thanks for letting me crash on the couch this week.

DC, huh? ever visit the Wonderland Ballroom? it’s owned by an ex-Detroiter (and good friend of mine) and her husband. it even has a little Detroit artifact area. one of my best friends moved to DC last year to help them run the place. i hear it’s very cool and sorta the “in” place amongst the hipster scene.

Yep – the DC Metbloggers actually go there sometimes for trivia nights and one of our own hosts it, blah blah blah. It is quite the place to be on trivia nights although I’ve only been once because, let’s be honest, when all the super smart people show up to show off, it gets less fun by the minute:).

It’s a cute place although I’ve never seen the Detroit collection, I will definitely have to look next time!! And now that I know that, I can see how it is has a Detroit flare as opposed to how most of the bars, etc. are in DC.
