97.1 WKRK

Talking about radio, I just read this morning that 97.1 (the local hack talk radio station) fired about half of their on-air personalities. This includes Michelle McKormick from the daytime show and Parker & the Man who ventured over to WKRK from WDFN many moons ago. Apparently, Tom Leykis, is going to be brought back to the late afternoon shift. I used to listen to Leykis (who is syndicated from LA) on my drive home from working afternoons at Somerset when I was in high school. Despite the fact he was a crazy chauvinist, I kind of enjoyed listening to his show.

That’s really too bad that Tom Leykis will be moving to afternoon shifts. He’s a total asshole!! The last thing he needs is an increase in audience. His disrespect for women is unbearable and makes him sound like an uneducated, ignorant jerk. Boo Hoo!

I read on Greg Henson’s website that these recent firings are basically a product of Homberg’s poor management. It said homberg screwed everything up, and now the station has to make cuts to recover the losses. Personally, I thought Henson and McKormick were jackasses, but at least they were entertaining. It doesn’t matter much to me, in the long run; as long as Deminski and Doyle are still on the air, I’m happy.

How could you fire the #1 afternoon sports show. Ever since 97.1 lost Howard it’s been a downward spiral. The only two highlight they had were D&D and Parker & the Man. Opie & Anthony, Leykis, and the replacement for Parker and the man all suck! I used to listen to your station all day and slowly your losing me one program at a time. The only thing I tune in for is D&D.

Where is Michelle McCormack currently working. I really miss her on the radio with Jay towers. I would like an update on her whereabouts.
