Dead Bodies on Display

The title is conjuring images of scaffolding, nooses, and hangings. However, it is quite another situation where the Detroit Science center is exhibiting preserved dead bodies in the name of education. There is a slight morbid curiosity within me to attend this exhibit until the feeling of illness and disgust take over. I suppose it is truly one thing to study biology and look through textbooks filled with animated diagrams and entirely another thing to actually see the real thing.

ther are a few of these exhibits traveling the country, i saw the one in Las Vegas a couple months ago and is was amazingly cool. i think the one here is a lot smaller than the one i saw. the Vegas show was held in a huge museum at the Tropicanna i think and i don’t remember there being a space that large at the Detroit Science Center. and it’s not gross or scary at all, the “displays” are preserved with a covering that basically make them look like they’re made of plastic.
