Me.
I haven’t posted in a while, mostly because I’ve been overwhelmed working. January is always a very stressful month with year-end work combined with about a billion other things. Thankfully, it’s now February and I can relax a little bit. Also, I think Valentines Day is coming up soon.
Anyway things have changed a lot for me since I was posting frequently – more after the jump.
1. I moved! Fed up with the super insane crazy insurance rates in the city of Detroit I moved across Alter Rd. I now reside in the “Cabbage Patch” neighborhood of Grosse Pointe Park. I’m actually pretty happy with the move – the neighborhood is actually a bit more walkable than midtown (I was at Cass & Kirby before) and crime is significantly lower. The work commute is about 20 minutes longer though, since I work on the west side.
2. I went to City Club! Met up with fellow Metblogger Mollika for her friend’s birthday party at the fine establishment below the Leland Hotel. Certainly an interesting experience and a can of PBR was only a dollar! Actually, the place was cleaner and more well run than about 3/4 of the bars in Detroit even though it has somewhat of a grisly reputation.
3. It’s 2007! I rung in 2007 at one of my favorite restaurants in all of Metro Detroit – Josephine (on 9 mile in Ferndale). The wine at Josephine is probably the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant and I recommend the duck. Delicious!
That’s all for now!
Thanks for the update, Tom! Glad to hear you’re happy in your new place and that we’ll be seeing more of you this month : )
I was getting worried that you were scared of letting the world know that you had visited Leland City Club – Detroit’s not so scary Goth club. Are you sure you didn’t just move to the Cabbage Patch due to the proximity to the Tap Room?
