Great Ideas for Feb. 14th

I am a huge romantacist and Valentines Day, this Wednesday, is a chance for me to show it. Here are a couple of ideas for lovers, sons and daughters out there to show that other person just how you feel.

This one is one of my favorite things to do. You don’t have to wait for February 14th. You can send this for any occasion, even wedding invitations. Message in a Bottle is a most unique gift. You can send it to Mom, for love, for friendship, just about any reason. It is a message placed inside a bottle like you would do at sea. You can pick from many pre-written notes or write your own. Reasonably priced at about $40.

White Castle turns their restaurants into a love fest every year for Valentines Day. They offer candlelit tables and servers. You even get to keep the menu and a White castle picture frame. Only 37 of the business’s are offering this package in the Detroit area and it’s reservation only. Some couples arrive in limo’s and have even reserved weddings. If the reservation list is full you can purchase a take home package called “Cupid’s Crave Kit” with enough sliders, fries and drinks to feed a whole wedding party. Cost about $20.

Lastly, and the most expensive is the Atheneum Suite Hotel at 1000 Brush in the heart of Greek Town. I have stayed here many times before calling the D’ my home and I can testify that it is a sumptuous experience. Beautiful rooms and suites. Room service is from Fish Bones right next door and they have a cool place for cocktails in the lobby called the “A” Bar. Anybody who is anybody has visited this hotel. It is not unusual to see some hollywood people or the movers and shakers of the city sitting at the bar sipping an adult beverage.

The hotel is offering a one night stay in a junior suite, dinner for two, a $50 value at any one of three restaurants. Fish Bones, Pegasus or Mozaic, all located on Monroe. The suite has a king size bed with living room and an extra large soaking tub surrounded by white marble. The cost for one night is $250. This is a great price for the taking. My personal choice is to upgrade to a jacuzzi suite. These are huge rooms. Almost like your own apartment. King size beds, living rooms and a gigatic marble bath in the middle of the bathing area. Price? $350 and well worth it. Don’t forget to bring some candles and order the champagne on ice when you arrive.

Can’t enjoy any of the above. Stay home with the one you love and rent the original “An Affair To Remember” with Cary Grant and Debra Karr. Bring a box of kleenex, you’ll need them. Sniff, sniff. . .

Hope you have a great Valentine’s Day whom ever you are with. And, oh yea, I love you too!!

thanks a lot, Double R, i feel so special now…and that whole “message in a bottle” thing is so much more topical now with that whole Police reunion being talked about so much today.

I’m not sure what to think about that White Castle deal. It sounds like alot of fun but I don’t know what my girl would think if I surprised her with that.

Other than that, thanks for the great ideas :)

I’m not going but my favorite restaurant, Josephine, in Ferndale is doing a special three or four course gourmet dinner special on Valentines day.
