Snow, Salt, and Cold Days

The weather remains a subject of awe. With the coverage of it in the media, it has just turned into another event to be sensationalized. The wind now blows the wrong way and Michigan schools shut down. We have moved beyond snow days and had a “cold day” a few weeks back. Most of the winter has been pretty mild, and now that it is finally snowing, it seems that the people salting are using up excess stores. Sometimes you think you are driving or walking over snow, when really it is compacted salt that refuses to disintegrate. Also, the really large grains of salt as well as the salt formed in to tiny balls are treacherous when trying to tread on foot.
