Another Chance at the Brass Ring

The Michigan Lottery is 35 years old and has given away millions and milllions to winners over the years. On May 7th, they will begin selling their most expensive ticket. For $50 you can have a chance to win a $2 million grand prize. The drawing will be held on June 18th. In addition, 25 winners will recieve $100,000 and 4,500 lucky ticket holders will win $500. Odds on winning are 1 in 125,000. Sounds like a shoe in when you consider the odds on the Mega Millions are 1 in 175.7 million.

For some unknown reason gambleing profits do not relect the state’s economy. In other words, plants are closing, jobs are being lost and a record number of homes are in foreclosure. Yet, I’d be willing to make this wager. All 250,000 tickets will be sold the day they go on sale. I don’t play very often. When they went to two 3 and 4 digit drawings a day I thought, what, they want me to lose twice a day now instead of just once? Even so, I’ll probably take a chance. “Money won is ten times better than money earned.”
