The Detroit News has a new section beginning today. It’s called “My Time” and it’s sweet. Your guide to the weekend is how they play it and it is chuck full of cool things to do in and around the D’. Kind of like a Metro Times or RealDetroit but done much better with alot of color and organization. Two nice features are “Clubs” spotlighting local dance venues and “Party” highlighting local pubs with pictures of guests enjoying the crowds. Alvins by Wayne State was honored for the first story and the Good Life Lounge, the Belmont and Edisons Lounge for the latter.

In the front few pages there is a place where you can write in and tell them what a great time YOU had last weekend. Send in a photo with it and, if they pick your story, they’ll print it. Also you can see what bands are coming to Detroit and where they are playing. (I didn’t know Diana Krall will be at the Fox in July!) You know it’s Cinco de Mayo this weekend, (look for my next blog) and Cheli’s on E. Adams is having a roaring party beginning tomorrow. The reason I mention it is because “My Time” is having their launch party from 3 p.m. on so if you’re going to be downtown tomorrow, check it out. It’s a great magazine.
