AZ & Goldie

You probably didn’t know that Alexander Zonjic is Canadian having been raised in Windsor. Recognized and respected as one of the worlds greatest flutists he is also an adopted son of the D’. AZ is a huge supporter of Detroit and a knowledgeable historian of the Detroit Jazz scene. This mild mannered, very humerous musician is also the morning host on V98.7, (WVMV-FM), aka “Smooth Jazz”. And if that doesn’s fill up his day, he is an owner of Seldom Blues, the best supper club in Detroit and runs his own music company, Hi-Falutin’ Music. from his office on W. Congress.

From playing his kazoo for tunnel bus passengers as a kid to being tutored by the DSO’s venerable Ervin Monroe, Alex has come a long way. If you haven’t seen him in concert, now is your chance. He will be playing his 18 Karat gold Muramatsu flute, nicknamed “Goldie”, for you and for charity, (the Windsor Downtown Mission) at 7:30 p.m. this Saturday. Windsor’s Assumption University Chapel at 400 Church Road will play host. This event will be dedicated to his Mother, Elena, who unfortunately passed away in last October. . $45 for preferred seating and an autographed CD with a flower for moms.
