Crackdown on Seedy Detroit Bars
The Freepress reported that the Detroit police department is going to crack down on bars where known illegal activities have taken place. It seems like bars are being held accountable for the actions of their patrons and employees. The bar sponsoring the oral sex contest should be punished but the selling of drugs between patrons seems a little far fetched to be preventable by bar owners and employees. Perhaps the crackdown on bars with numerous shootings would encourage owners to pat down patrons before they enter or invest in a metal detector, but chances are shutting down makes more business sense. I am all for making establishments safer, but I wonder if punishing businesses for the actions of patrons is the best way to go about it. Either way, I’m glad that something is being done.
