Paws up

It isn’t unusual for my husband and me to stay at a hotel the night of a wedding, especially if the wedding is in the ‘burbs or far away from our home in Detroit, and we did just that on Saturday evening after enjoying my cousin’s nuptials at Fox Hills in Plymouth. The thing that was different for us this time, though, was that along with booking a hotel for us, we also had to find a place for our dog, Bagley, to stay while we were away.

Never having dealt with this before, I was a little nervous casting the little guy off for the night, but everything worked out great. Since my parents and the rest of my family attended the wedding (and we therefore couldn’t pawn him off on any of them) we took him to one of his – and our – favorite places: Canine to Five in Midtown. Bagley has participated in Canine to Five’s puppy socials, dog park and daycare before and always has fun there, so I wasn’t surprised that Saturday evening went well, too. We dropped him off at 1 pm on Saturday, picked him up at 6 pm on Sunday, and paid $36. A nice price in my book.

If you have a dog and need to board him for a night or just need a day to yourself, I encourage you to look into Canine to Five. Your pooch gets to socialize with other dogs and get lots of exercise, and you get to have a social life. Canine to Five is clean and the staff loves animals. What more could you ask for?
