Comerica CityFest–Saturday Music Picks
Today is CityFest Day Four and I’m pretty impressed that I’ve actually been keeping up with these picks everyday so far, given that most of my postin’ has been tending toward the biweekly rather than the daily. I hope that my own daily itineraries have been helpful to some of you and I hope that I haven’t let anybody down if they’ve actually followed my advice (I, myself, felt some disappointment with some shows, but I shall digress from naming names).
I’m looking forward to seeing Freer at 6pm at the Pure Detroit Stage and The GO at 9pm on the City Park Stage, but the band I’m most excited about today is The High Strung, three Detroit lads who spend very little time at home since they live life mostly on the road, playing over 250 shows a year, I hear. I have several friends who’ve seen them and say they put on a great show and are all-around good chaps to boot. If you like Spoon, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, or most representations of Canadian pop-rock (Oh, how I still mourn the loss of The Flashing Lights!), you (and I) will probably love The High Strung. 7:30 in the pm, New Center City Park Stage.
