Lounging and Bar Hopping

My baby sister just moved in with me and she’s looking to bartend in the city. We went around bar hopping last week handing out resumes and it was a very rewarding experience. I never realized exactly how rich the Detroit nightlife is. I definitely have my favourite haunts around the city, but I have discovered so many more beautiful new lounges. Beauty and class abound in the décor and atmosphere of Pulse, the Woodward, Centaur, and Deluxe. However, it seems like some places have some very contradictory atmospheres as well. Proof has all the makings of a martini lounge, yet all the clientele was spillover from the baseball game. I suppose proximity to the field may have something to do with it. Either way, I am very happy to have expanded my choices for nighttime entertainment.

I absolutley love Centaur. Proof is maybe more for right after work drinks? I think you’re right about it’s proximity to Comerica Park, I’ve noticed spill over on a few occasions.

The only memory I have a Delux is a birthday party that was so packed it smelled stale and took 40 minutes to get a drink. I’m sure it’s a nice place, but I just can’t make myself go back.

The Centaur is my spot, especially on Friday’s when all martinis are 5 bucks 4-7. I will be in the house this week!!!
