Walk the walk

While perusing through the top Detroit stories this evening, I couldn’t help but stop — and gape — at this Free Press headline: “Kilpatrick press secretary’s car, insurance registered outside Detroit” [1]. What?! I’m sorry, I must not have read that correctly.
But, unfortunately, I did. And, unfortunately, I am left feeling disappointed, because yet another person in Detroit feels the need to commit fraud instead of paying what they owe. The real kicker is that this isn’t just anyone, it’s the mayor’s press secretary no less. Come on, people. If you live in the city, then LIVE in the city. Not just when you feel like it. Or when it is convenient for you. Or when it is the cheapest option. If you don’t like the insurance rates here and feel the need to use an address outside Detroit to cheat the system, then perhaps you shouldn’t be working for the city, and taking the taxpayers’ money.
