A few days late, but I just got back from the DIA myself – a picture doesn’t do the current look of the Grand Hall any justice. The thousands of sparkling mirrors hanging from the ceiling is positively enchanting and gorgeous. Especially at night, when the mirrors resemble twinkling stars above your head.

It is a shimmering, magical, mystical marvel.
I don’t think I’ve seen a similar installation anywhere else.
Go see it, if you haven’t already!

Do you know if the Great Hall mirror installation is permanent? Or was it done just for the re-opening? Either way, it certainly was amazing!
I made a photo while I was there on the 23rd, but I wish I would have been there a bit later in the day with my tripod.
Great website by the way, take care!

Tommy, you are absolutely right, pictures do not do the hall justice. It really just must be experienced in person. I know so many people who are delighted at its resemblance to the enchanted ceiling at Hogwarts – yes I am a Harry Potter fanatic. Andrew, great pictures – thank you for sharing – and thank you for your kind words on the site. I am not sure if the installation is permanent, I certainly hope it will be around for a while.
Detroit Census Triplication Mollika* I had to return a fourth survey. I am representing the non-Doctor Indian population of Detroit :0) likwidshoe It’s all about representation, not funding. Detroiters needs to lose the entitlement mindset.
