Oslo, How I Missed You So
While there is still no sushi to be seen the techno is back. This past Saturday I attended a Paxahau event in the dimly lit basement of Oslo. With only a handful of red and green bulbs and the light from the DJ’s laptop to lead the way, we were led and crammed into a suffocating space below Woodward to be possessed by the sounds of DJ John Johr. Despite less than ideal ventilation, the energy in the room was well worth the discomfort. I am usually one that frequents mainstream hip hop clubs and therefore never really experienced a night where everyone in the crowd was there to pay respects to the artistry of the DJ. I have never seen a DJ encored and given an ovation nor have I ever seen people line up to meet the DJ after the lights come on. Impressive. Can’t wait for the sushi to come back and top it off.
Is OSLO really reopening or is this just a I-hope-it-does?
It appears that there was supposed to be food appearing at Oslo at the end of October. It did not appear to me that the space was currently serving food. There could very well be a delay, but I have not heard anything official or unofficial confirming or denying this fact.

I’ve been to OSLO only one time (dark and musty wasn’t really my thing) but I know it had a very loyal clientele. I’ve been reading bits and hearing rumors of a reopening for quite some time now, with it never really happening. I wonder if they’re just running in to some troubles?
