How many years will we, as Lions fans, sit and watch slow, weak, overpayed and overrated men who claim to be football players make fools of themselves and the city of Detroit?
Chicago laughs at us once again!

Way to go Matt Millen! Way to go The Ford Family! Way to Go Lions coaching staff!

Woodward Dream Cruise 2006 hits the archives.
I spent Wed night, all day Thurs, Friday evening and all Saturday sun up to sun down watching, riding and living the Woodward Dream Cruise.
The best day for seeing “dream” cars was Thursday. Most of the out of towners had already made their way into town.
I find it very difficult to explain how it feels to roll down the street, in a 72 Nova, to your left a 41 Ford coupe, and to your right a Ferrari Enzo.
My family and I huddled around a tent to get out of the rain on the corner of Woodward and 12. Once the rain let up we wiped off the cars and hit the pavement. As always there were way too many Mini Vans and Envoys clogging up the road. If only there could be a way to stop the soccer moms and home office dads from ruining a good thing. Next year I will have a very obnoxious sign stating my opinions on this.
Overall we had a good time and look forward to next year.

Ford has gone back and forth this year with the idea of moving manufacturing operations to Mexico.
The big announcement made today has Ford Motor Company investing nearly $1 Billion in operations in the state of Michigan. This investment would mean that 14,000 jobs would stay in Michigan.
People throughout Michigan have been feeling the tightening of the belts due to the loss of manufacturing and engineering jobs to outsourcing.
This decision could really help in the recovery of Michigan’s economy.

Roger Penske is preparing a presentation for Mayor Kilpatrick and the City Council that will lay out Penske’s plan for bringing open wheeled IRL racing back to Belle Isle.
Penske has already conducted a tour of the old raceway on Belle Isle for some IRL members. Penske is very devoted to bringing business and a bright future to Detroit.

Penske was on the Superbowl board and is heavily involved, if not in charge, of a riverfront development that will bring condos and storefronts to the Detroit River front.

The addition of this yearly race, The Detroit Grand Prix, would be outstanding. Not only would there be a valuable use of Belle Isle, the race would bring a lot of business and excitement to Detroit. The Motor City deserves such an event.

Thanks Mr. Penske for seeing the bright potential of Detroit!

This signing is controversial for 3 reasons.
One, Dominic is 41 years old. That’s old!
Two, There are about 4 goaltenders with winning records available for the amount of money they spent on Dominic.
Three, Dominic hurt his groin just before the playoff last year, he didn’t make it into the post season.

A positive spin on this signing?
Jason Howard is a young goalie (#3) with a ton of potential. He could learn a lot from a veteran keeper like Dominic.

I really can’t wait to see how this plays out!

The Detroit Free Press had a great article today. http://www.freep.com They talk about how Michiganders still drive American Autos. “45% of households owning a vehicle made by General Motors Corp., 39% a Ford Motor Co. vehicle, and 22% a Chrysler Group car or truck. The poll showed only 15% of Michigan households own a vehicle made by a foreign automaker.”

Its great to see hard numbers that show Americans, driving American vehicles. Michigan is doing a great job supporting the American Autos! I have a feeling though that the overall numbers for the U.S. would not be this high. I lived 4 years in Richmond VA. Virginians drive foreign autos. I spent a few weekends in Washington DC, our nations capital and saw the Foreign Autos out numbered American owned Auto there as well. I even saw Jesse “the Body” Ventura exit from a Mercedes to interview just outside the White House.

The Stanely Cup will be on display at Compuware Headquarters in Detroit Monday and Tuesday of this week.

Peter Karmanos, the owner of the Carolina Hurricans and President CEO of Compuware will proudly display the Stanley Cup in the epicenter of Detroit, just blocks from the “Joe”.

There is a new reason to see the Cup, its rumored to be cracked. During the postgame celebration in the Hurrucanes locker room a trainer had his moment of glory, as he raised the cup over his head he lost grip due to all of the slobber from the hurricanes licking it, when slam, it hit the floor.

The Red Wings need to make a special trip down there to get a good look at the Cup. Seeing it sit in Detroit, next to a Hurricanes Jersy, and not able to touch it, should be enough motivation for them to win it this year.

Shanahan signed a one year deal to play for the Rangers. In New York he will net his 600th career goal, he is currently just 2 short. It would have been great to witness this in the Joe, but the Red Wings thought him to be done. For Detroit it was hard to justify $4 million dollars for the old timers 17th season.
I wonder is New York will dance the Irish Jig when Shanny announces his retirement half was through the season?
