Detroit schools back in session tomorrow

It’s official: the Detroit Federation of Teachers voted this morning to accept the tentative three-year deal reached yesterday and will be heading back to the classroom tomorrow morning to begin the school year, which was set to begin August 28. The strike lasted nearly two weeks long and resulted in 7 missed days of school.

Detroit teachers may be headed back to work

Following another all-night bargaining session, this time with the help of Mayor Kilpatrick, Governor Granholm and others, the Detroit Federation of Teachers (DFT) and the Detroit Public Schools (DPS) reached a tentative deal around 6:30 this morning according to the online edition of the Free Press.
