Big Games in the City

Since hitting a home run like Bobby Abreu in hosting the All Star Game just a few weeks back, Detroit is now gearing up for the Superbowl. Part of the process is finding places for people to stay. And amongst the locals, there is a definite interest in renting out their homes for the week to those not interested in a hotel.

Websites, like Big Game Houses For Rent, are helping homeowners connect with interested parties. Whether you are within walking distance of the stadiums or a few minute drive, there is probably someone willing to rent your place. And apparently, if you rent for less than 15 days a year, it is tax-free income.

The recommendation is to list with as many sites as possible. Let them deal with the advertising and busy work required to get your home out there. Here is a chance for the homeowners of Detroit to profit from the sudden influx of sporting events in the city.

In the interest of full disclosure, Metblog author Bobby is one of the guys behind Big Game House For Rent. Yes, he and I are good friends. No, I don

Well, thanks for the plug! I certainly didn’t expect that (seriously!)

I think this city is the perfect place for renting for the SB; a dearth of rooms and the fact that it’ll be the dead of winter means that commuting won’t be as obvious.

And yes — you should consider the sitting service! Money to be made!

I agree it is an incredible oppurtunity that people aren’t aware of or scared to do… hence the post.. I wish I knew more of the sites but I don’t…
