Chris F***in’ Osgood? Did they call my Grandfather first?

There are some things that you read and don’t initially process. You kinda gloss over them, go back to whatever you were doing, then turn back to rescan in horror, praying your brain was joshin’ ya.

This was one of those things.

Oh, come on. Didn’t we ride this guy out on a rail last time? Didn’t we decide that years of bad playoff showings by the goaltender position warranted a major signing? I remember this… vividly.

Did they call Tim Cheveldae? I know Jimmy Rutherford is running the Hurricanes, and Rogie Vachon is busy doing something Quebecois-style… but the corpse of Terry Sawchuk must have been on speed dial.

Yes, I know that my opinion is not particularly well liked by all. There are people out there that choose to remember the 1998 Cup ride, forgetting the unstoppable Konstantinov/Mnatsakanov karma. They choose to forget the horrid annual playoff showings against the Avs. Most don’t know that the guy has a sterling reputation for being a jerk off the ice.

And it’s not like we’re getting a young Ozzie. It’s been 11 years since he gave away Game 7 to the Sharks (remember now??)…

So, I’m now the world’s biggest Manny Legace fan. I would have preferred to be singing the love of Khabibulin, or even Sean Burke. I would be thrilled to tell you about the grand return of Glenn Hall, for Pete’s sake. But, this is what we have. I rarely second guess a Kenny Holland move, but this one will come to bite us on our red and white tushes.

I agree completely, I would rather see Legace or even Wregget start between the pipes. I understand there are salary cap restrictions to get a good goalie, but I believe the Wings are better off drafting a young goalie right out of college or high school.

If I were looking to buy a(nother) Wings sweater, I’d totally get Manny Legace’s.

What are the chances we could ever sign Marty Turco? I *heart* Marty Turco.
