The Detroit Cobras

Speaking of good Detroit bands, The Detroit Cobras released their third album last week and will be playing in Detroit tonight.

Similar to the band’s past two albums, Baby is mainly made up of long-lost R&B remakes – the exception is the Nagy-written, “Hot Dog (Watch Me Eat)” – and showcases The Cobras’ excellent detective work, as well as their ability to do the original songs the justice they deserve.

As the cover story in Wednesday’s edition of the Metro Times explains, think twice before typecasting The Detroit Cobras as just another cover band; they are much more than that.

The Cobras play tonight at Detroit’s Magic Stick. Loretta Lucas & the Larkspurs and Reigning Sound open up the show.
