Midwest Petanque Championship was GOLDEN

I’m completely exhausted, but deliriously satisfied with today’s result. Indeed, the tournament set-up took a tad longer than expected but it allowed us to work together as a club (thanks Bobby for helping me with the laser and string!). We had ten teams – all pretty well matched – and an unbeatable area at which to play. The too-loud Cibille Brazilan CD (sorry) was a bit much, but at least we had the strolling saxaphonist.

Melissa really played at A++ today along with her formidable team of Gregory and Cyrille. There’s no doubt we all will want a crack at trying to beat them (in our social petanque playing). As for Joe, Dan and Jen beating my team in the Consolate finals — DRAT drat DRAT ! But I couldn’t be happier knowing that Joe was smirking as I put the medal around his neck.

As if my usual walking around the Campus Martius Park with an assortment of gadgets wasn’t enough, todays list included: numberless-measuring tape, walkie-talkies, Laser-Guide-Level, LED Flashlight, and a wireless microphone which was linked to the speaker system at the park (HOW TEMPTING it’d be to make inappropriate remarks…)
The Detroit Metblogs Banner was flying high, and I’m sure it’ll help with more eyeballs for the BLOG.

One of my favorite moments was when little Brandon stood at the stage, before his beaming Mom and Grandmother who were taking 5,000 photos, as people congratulated him on his “Most Improved Player” award.

I doubt anyone on my team would say we were playing at even an A- level. We were definately having off days but oh, well it all worked out in the end.

And it wasn’t my metblog sign – it was our metblog sign. There were three metbloggers in the championship…

I think someone, after 15 misspellings, needs to learn how to spell “definitely”. :-)

Maybe.. but this point, it will be a hard habit to break.

Perhaps “definately” is the French spelling of the word.

I’d better keep on my toes because now Mel is going to be scrutinizing our postings for mistakes both in spelling and in grammar.

Nah, unless you misspell Detroit, I am not so worried. Besides now with the tournament passed, I have to start my shooting lessons with GD and CD.

OH NO!!! Now you’re going to be a great Shooter AND a Great Pointer?!

Will any OTHER team ever win another tournment ever again?

I’m going to have to start grooming the 8 yr. olds (the NEW Enfants Terribles!)
