Detroit Docs [Boys of Baraka]

Tonight I saw three films showing at the Detroit Docs Film Fest: The Boys of Baraka, Cowboy del Amor and No Gray Twilight.

No Gray Twilight was an 8 minute film on rodeo cowboys. Cowboy del Amorwas a quirky film about a man who runs a business setting up American men with Mexican wives. It was cute and very quirky.

I was blown away by The Boys of Baraka. What an amazing film! I highly recommend this film. It is about high-risk teenage boys from Baltimore who attend a school in Kenya. The boys themselves blow you away with their maturity and wisdom. Their goals are defined and their determination is admirable. The films itself is very engaging, objective and thoughtful. You can help but be drawn into the film and care about the boys. Find it, demand it, ask for it, look for it. Do whatever it takes to see this film.
