A Winter
While I love the winter and I love the snow, I nearly burst into tears this morning at the sight of the beginning of another Michigan winter of commuting from Canton to Detroit. Re-teaching myself to drive in mittens was alright, but I would do anything to have a heated steering wheel. Can you get this done, or do I have to dream about it because I will never be able to afford the Benz that has it?
You can make one! Get an electric blanket… remove the wire-element inside the material… Wrap it around the steering wheel… Put a Steering wheel cover over that… plug the wire into your electric-car outlet… TaDa! Mercedes-Benz quality without the price… total cost… about $30
Well, an electric blanket is one way of doing it, if it’s actually safe… Personally, I love my remote car starter. Mine was factory installed when I bought my car, but I think you can get one for ~$150, maybe less. That’ll fix your cold steering wheel, and cold seat, and cold everything. Plus, once it comes to it, it makes scraping windows 10x easier since the windows are already warm, too…
I most certainly am considering the car starter and I am lucky enough to have the heated seats, but no matter how warm the rest of me is, my fingers freeze . . . perhaps I will have to try the electric blanket thing. I think I watch too much “Pimp My Ride” and think anything is possible.
