Potter mania?

Last night, I went to see Jarhead at the Star Southfield. (Great film – I “review” it at my own site) When we arrived at 7:20, we saw the theatre preparing for the Harry Potter release at 11:59pm. My boyfriend commented there was no line up yet but he bet there would be one. As we left our film at quarter to 10, the first few fans had begun lining up outside the theatre… in costume. (All adults)

Time for a confession from me – I have never read a single Harry Potter book and I only saw the first film. Even now I can’t remember if I watched that film all the way through. Now my parents, my brothers and so on are all addicted to the series but I just don’t get it. I am looking forward to the upcoming Narnia movie – so no I am not against fantasy/sci fi. In fact, at this point, I am Harry Potter-ed out.

But I am a minority or am I. Detroit has never really struck me as a Harry Potter city. So here is a question for you – are you excited for the film? Have you seen it yet? Where did you see it?

i am like you… i saw the first one, but haven’t seen any of the other ones and don’t really feel a need to… but harry potter is huge and while no one in my sphere is totally crazy about them, there are people who are…

I LOVE the Harry Potter films!

I haven’t dressed up in Hogwarts regalia (yet…) but any of the fantasy stuff… (Lord of the Rings, Excalibur etc etc) is right up my alley… Diagon Alley that is (to HP fans – Wink!)

What’s not to like about the films? There’s tons of eye-candy to look for, moving portraits, great effects, and absolutely little thinking involved… the perfect: “VEG-OUT” film.

I know my friend Joe is dedicating today to Harry Potter (he may dress up as Hagrid)…

I’ve got a date with Harry, Ron, and Hermione tonight. This book was the best one yet and I cannot wait to see the film interpretation.

If it gets kids to read, that’s half my job done.

My sister took me out in Canton and it was the best one yet. It was the best book too. I may have to do it at the IMAX next time. The Henry Ford IMAX in Dearborn is showing it. I was an outsider who didn’t pick up the books until a year ago. While I am now part of a commercial juggernaut, it is a state of comfort in the fact that there will be a book and a movie to satiate my needs for at least the next four years. I’d probably buy into the “College Years” . . .
