Kimmel vs Detroit

In an attempt to make ammends with Detroit, Jimmy Kimmel brought his late night show here for the week. Lots of people were excited about it particularly since tickets are free. However, there is a catch – most of the tickets don’t guarantee admission to the taping.

This was the case last night as hundreds of people stood waiting for admission to the taping in the Gem Theatre, who were then turned away. Turns out the promoter had also given out significantly more tickets than the venue could handle.

So just a warning – if you are planning to attend any of the free events in town, be prepared for long waits and possibly being turned away. I have heard rumors that the Bud Bowl also gave out significantly more tickets than Tiger Stadium can hold.

If you watched the Kimmel show tonight (Wednesday) Jimmy made a joke (apology) about this whole mishap.

I believe he also stated that there would be a private party held with those ticketholders that were turned away, as an apology.
