Remembering Proof
The old “Shady Records Welcomes you to Detroit” sign on 94 eastbound before Trumbull has now been changed to: “Big Proof Forever” with a likeness of the late rapper as well as his years of life. This too is sponsored by Shady Records. It is a sad reminder of the consequences of gun possession and gun violence.
what about a memorial to the poor guy that he was murdering when he got shot? it seems like everyone has forgotten that he was shot while killing another person. he is not a hero to be remembered in print or song. i’ll confess that maybe i don’t know enough about his past, was he a valuble assett to the human race who had just this one bad moment or was he just a talented rapper so his final action should be forgiven?
i really hate when people are worshipped for having a certain talent (song writing, sports, acting) and their “true” personalities are ignored infavor of the 1% of what you see of them. to me Kurt Cobain was whiny heroin addict that wrote really good music but to others that never met him he is a hero. but again, i don’t know enough about Proof, has anyone here ever met him?
I find it hard to complain about that sign knowing that Proof was a personal friend of the person funding it
do you think a town would be cool with a Jeffery Dahmer statue in their town if his parents paid for it? his “friend” should still respect the feelings of Proof’s victim’s family. am i too sensative?
on the contrary – you’re being grossly insensitive to those who knew and cared about Proof
caring about the guy doesn’t endorse his final behavior
most, if not all of us, know someone who has broken our hearts by screwing up in some way
sometimes all you can do it saw “aw, shit, man” and wonder if there was a sign you missed or an action you didn’t take that might have prevented what happened
I wish Proof’s friends and family would use their influence to help reduce gun violence. If he were not carrying a gun him and his victim may still be here today.
ditto that, sister. a black eye from an old fasioned fist fight i can handle.
