this weekend was my first Tiger’s game of the season and it was just a wonderful experience… because of their winning ways, there have been several times this year when i’d be able to see the stadium packed inside while driving north on Woodward… this weekend, i was able to be part of the 125,417 fans who crammed into Comerica Park this weekend… the AP reported that it was highest attendance for a 3 game series in the history of Comerica Park… incredible!!!

i went on saturday and it was a great game, though i was a little disappointed with Kenny Rogers’ pitching performance… he gave up 4 runs in 6 innings… the Tigs were down 2 in the bottom of the 9th when Marcus Thames whacked a homer to left with a man on to tie it up… Zumaya came in for the 10th and topped 100 a few times, then in the bottom of the 10th Placido Polanco hit a triple, scoring Curtis Granderson for the win… alongside of the perfect weather and spectacular fireworks afterwards, it made for an excellent, excellent evening…

what a turnaround this team has made this season… it’s definitely helping contribute to downtown being much more busy on the weekends… but as a Tigers fan, it was nice to be at the game and still think they had a chance to win it even though they were down 2 in the 9th… it was also nice to have the game actually be more exciting than the fireworks!!!

Comerica Park is a gem in its, but it is purely a beautiful sight when she is filled up to the rafters with loud, and supportive fans.

I am headed to the ball game tonight. I hope mother nature is kind!

I’m not a big fan of Comerica Park myself. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful park, but to me ferris wheels, merry-go-rounds, and dance clubs have no place at a baseball game. That being said, it’s unbelievably nice to finally have a winning baseball team in Detroit–it’s been way too long. It’s great to be able to sit down and watch a game on TV or go down to the ballpark and enjoy the team. Bring in Bobby Abreau at the trade deadline and maybe some help on the mound and we could be talking World Series–AMAZING isn’t it??

Hopefully Mike Maroth will be back soon too!
