Leavin’ on a jet plane
As Mgal noted a few days ago, many of our authors are traveling to far-off places this month for a little bit of R&R. Having just gotten back from a 10-day honeymoon in Maui last month, I’ll be sticking around for a while; which is just fine with me because there is plenty to do in Detroit this summer.

All this talk about vacations, though, got me wondering where people in metro Detroit go when they need to get away.
Perhaps you have a cottage Up North or will be visiting family in another state. Or, maybe you’re headed somewhere you’ve never been but have always wanted to visit.
Where are your summer vacation plans taking you? Why did you choose to vacation there?
I just returned from ‘Up North’. More specifically, I stayed in Bellaire near Shanty Creek and Torch Lake. From there we drove to Traverse City for the National Cherry Festival. Sunday we went wine tasting at three of the five wineries in Mission Peninsula.
That sounds like great fun, Johnny. I’ve never been to the Cherry Festival, but have been to Traverse City many times and always enjoy visiting there.
