Heat = Power outages for some

I was just watching the 7 pm broadcast of WXYZ-Channel 7 and learned that some metro Detroit residents have lost power due to the extreme heat.

About 3000 customers in Dearborn and 2000 in Macomb Township lost power today because of substation failures due to power usage-overload. About 600 Oak Park residents also lost power because of a cable failure.

Along with the Detroit Public Library cooling centers in the city, there are cooling centers located in Mount Clemens, Sterling Heights, Dearborn and Hamtramck. For a complete list including addresses and phone numbers, scroll to the bottom of this story from ClickonDetroit.com.

If your power is operational, help avoid future outages in the area. DTE Energy asks that customers kick their a/c up a few notches and avoid using major appliances until after 8 pm.

Its Hot! I made the mistake of tackling some heavy yard work this past weekend and have not been able to cool off since. My company wanted to help out with the whole “conserve energy” thing so last night they shut down all the air conditioning systems so they wouldnt run overnight for no reason. So here we are at 12:20p and the room temp is still 80 degrees cause the Air system cant catch up to the heat!
Im really looking forward to the Thunderstorms tomorrow. I will deffinitly be singing in the rain!

That was really nice what your company did; sorry you are paying the price, though! I’m looking forward to the rain tomorrow, as well :)
