City Airport

they truly are trying to rejuvenate everything in the D… i think it would be a great thing if they used City Airport more, but as is the case with much of the city, people don’t like to use it because of the area’s high crime rate… according to an article in the News, multiple homicides, drug trafficking and kidnapping have all occurred in the area over the past several years… still, City Airport would be a valuable asset to the D if it ever did get up and running and safe… today Destination One began flights in and out of City Airport… according to the article, it is a smaller company that uses smaller airplanes, which they say is more cost effective…

having said that, i still wouldn’t use City Airport because i don’t like flying in small planes!!!

The area around City Airport gives me the willies. I had to stop by there one time to do a rental car transfer. The old factory nearby (Budd, co?) looms over the entire neighborhood and gives it an eerie feel.

Besides, the nearby hotel capacity = 0 and the runways aren’t long enough for most modern jets. I would imagine that Oakland Executive Airport gets more small plane traffic than City Airport ever will.

maybe they will tear it down and put up some more luxury lofts. i for one would love a loft in that area cuz it’s just that much quicker for me to get to Harpo’s.

If they could get Spirit in there doing only Detroit to NYC for really cheap, I’m sure they would have a lot of people braving the area.
