No Free Tiger

There’s a good chance the Tigers will not be free local broadcast television next season. Cable partner Fox Sports Net Detroit which held the broadcast this year has begun talks with other stations interested in televising games for 2007. Talks with radio are under way also.

A key factor in negotiations is the Tiger’s success. Illitch Holdings Inc. believes its games are worth more but the station executives disagree and have a wait and see attitude.

Hey, if you live in New York and you want to watch the Yankees on TV, you have to pay. Guess we’ll be paying to see the Tigers next year too.
