Metro Detroit’s 2007 Grinch of the Year
I’ve been enjoying my vacation time so much that I forgot to announce the winner of the Metro Detroit Grinch of the Year on Friday as promised.
So, without further ado, the winner is …
Business owners who have left the area because of a dip in the economy. These grinches won the contest by more than half of the votes this year, with Kwame Kilpatrick and the Detroit City Council tied for second place.
Should we really blame business owners for leaving the area? Should we expect them to try to stick it out, even if they eventually have to close their company down because they are unable to turn a profit? Maybe we should’ve nominated the State’s economy. Then again, I think I was nominated as a Grinch for not making any nominations for the Grinch, so I guess I have to get over it.
