Eating at the Woodbridge Pub
After reading Scotter’s post on opening of the Woodbridge Pub I decided to mosey on down and see what kind of sustenance I could devour. Actually, I had been planning to go there anyway to see a fall photography show put on by some fellow Exposure Detroit members. The pictures and ambiance were spectacular. It has a really homey feel, with rich wood tones and tin ceilings.
The food was decently priced, as were the drinks. I got the Detroit Hipster burger, which comes on a ciabbatta bun, with a whole portabella mushroom cap, and a pesto infused mayonnaise sauce (I copied that part from the menu, I don’t even know what it means). It was delicious, if a bit messy. I can’t wait to get back and sample some more of the wonderful food!
Sarcasm, how unsarcastic a review!
I liked the Stever McFivers sandwich (I think that’s what it was called), which was also messy, but I think that the Pub has some serious acoustic problems. I’ve been there a few times now (since all the cool kids are hanging out there now) and found that the sound of people talking will overwhelm any conversation you might be having at your table, depending on where you’re sitting in the bar. I sat by the window a few nights ago and couldn’t hear a thing anyone at my table was saying. I’m not sure how to fix such a problem, but the fact that the noise from so many people talking even drowns out the jukebox means they better fix the problem or risk losing customer base. I already know of a couple of people who have decided to start going back to Honest Johns b/c they can’t stand the acoustics at Woodbridge Pub.
Ha! Yeah, I can be nice, I am tempted to let my inner evil pop, but I shall keep it nice, eh? Yeah, about the acoustics, spot on, it was a bit loud. And if we are being a wee bit critical, my friends Cheery Cherry Chicken Salad had really dry and tough chicken. And the waitress was a little lax in refilling our drinks in a timely manner.
